Dave was born and raised in Nassau County, New York to two middle class working parents. His father David worked for the United States Postal Service as a Mail Carrier and his mother Theresa worked for an airline.Dave has one younger brother, Chris, who has followed in Dave's footsteps and serves citizens with a career in law enforcement. As a lifelong resident of North Merrick, Dave watched as his parents sacrificed so much to raise him and his brother on Long Island. As the years went on, it did not get easier. Now, Dave wants to change the path Long Island has been on for decades and make it more attractive to young adults and all those in the middle class.
Dave graduated Summa Cum Laude from Saint Leo University in Florida with a double major in Political Science and Criminal Justice with a Specialization in Homeland Security. Dave was enrolled in his college's honors program for all four years and was chosen as the School of Education and Social Services' 2012- 2013 Student of the Year. In his senior year, he was awarded the Clara McDonald Olson Scholastic Excellence Award for earning the highest scholastic average over four years. In addition to being Valedictorian, Dave was selected by his classmates to deliver the student commencement address at graduation.
After graduation, Dave worked as a data analyst and a project manager for one of New York's largest dental insurance providers in the private sector - Healthplex. Healthplex offers flexible, affordable options that are designed to control costs and assure quality care for individuals and large groups in labor, the building trades, law enforcement unions and the working class on Long Island. Dave's dream was to directly enter public service. In April 2016, Dave was accepted into the New York City Police Academy to become a police officer and serve the residents of New York City. In September 2016, Dave graduated from the Police Academy overall in the top 10% of his class, and he was awarded the First Deputy Commissioner’s Award for having the highest academic average in the Police Academy. Dave is currently a police officer in the New York City Police Department, and now he is looking to serve his home district as a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives in New York's Fourth Congressional District.
